Job Title: Operations Manager
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 plus bonus
Location:  Marion, North Carolina
Travel Requirement: Less than 25%

They specialize in providing high-quality building and landscape stone for both residential and commercial projects. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Operations Manager to join their team.
 
Position Overview:
 
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the production facility in Marion, NC ensuring the highest levels of productivity, quality, and efficiency. This role will be responsible for managing all the teams of the facility, while maintaining safety standards, driving process improvements, and ensuring optimal workflow. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for developing strategic plans, meeting production targets, and continuously improving processes for the North Carolina location.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and provide direction to all teams at the North Carolina facility.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with OSHA and MSHA standards.
  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing organizational structures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to set production targets and ensure objectives are met.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual operational budgets.
  • Maximize the use of equipment like saws and splitters to improve operational efficiency.
  • Review monthly departmental budgets vs. actuals and propose corrective actions when needed.
  • Develop and present capital expenditure recommendations to improve operational capabilities.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and other best practices for efficiency.
  • Forecast and plan personnel needs based on production goals.
  • Recommend purchases of equipment and supplies within budget constraints.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of operations, including equipment maintenance, customer service metrics, and more.
  • Monitor operational costs and actively pursue cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with HR to develop and implement employee training programs.
  • Oversee payroll processing via Paylocity and support hiring efforts.
  • Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for shop and quarry operations.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production management role, preferably in stone, construction materials, or a similar industry.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with a focus on employee development and team success.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, workflow optimization, and quality control.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using production management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using "Great Plains" accounting software is considered an asset
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies (preferred).
