Our client is looking to add an experienced Intermediate or Senior-level Structural Engineer to their team in the KWC-area. This firm is a multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm servicing Southwestern Ontario.
Offering civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and geomatics services to both private and public clients. This is a mid-sized company with a family-feel that values creativity, innovation, and "out-of-the-box" thinking is highly encouraged.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development, design, and management of structural projects, including limited to multi-residential buildings, single-family homes.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues in other engineering disciplines, leading project meetings and communicating necessary information.
- Develop and review structural drawing deliverables, collaborate with other Engineers and Technologists in the firm.
- Direct others and provide instructions and guidance regarding structural evaluations, construction reviews.
- Stamp and seal deliverables, as well as the deliverables of more Junior colleagues.
- Help mentor and monitor junior staff.
- Work directly with clients onsite, maintain regular communication with regulatory and approving authorities.
- Create and review project deliverables (drawings, reports) for accuracy, paying strong attention to detail.
- Keep aware of current and upcoming industry expectations, codes, standards, and customer needs.
- Assist with business development, new opportunities, and client relationships.
- Prepare and create AutoCAD drawings per company and client expectations, design requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of design standards in regard to structural engineering, with wood materials.
- Coordinate with other disciplines within the firm when needed.
- Completion of site reviews, reports as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in structural engineering projects.
- P.Eng designation in Ontario through PEO is mandatory.
- Bachelor and/or postsecondary studies in civil engineering.
- Ability to communicate with various stakeholders (colleagues, field staff, clients, approving municipalities), act as a team-player.
- Detail-oriented, thorough, organized, and methodical approach to tasks.
- Self-motivated to continuously improve, ability to plan strategically, and work independently.
- Creative problem-solver, welcome unorthodox approaches to resolving issues.
- Ability to commute and travel for site visits.
- Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Familiarity with varying building materials and industry practices, wood-frame construction.
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code (section 9).
- AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Woodworks.
