Role Overview:
The firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Architect - Contract Administrator to lead the construction administration phase of large-scale, complex projects in healthcare, mixed-use, and community sectors. You will play a key role in ensuring design excellence, smooth project execution, and successful project delivery. This position combines technical expertise with project leadership, requiring collaboration with diverse stakeholders, from clients and consultants to contractors and municipal authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural and Urban Design:

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of design drawings and construction documents.
  • Oversee consultant teams, ensuring the alignment and integration of all design documentation.
  • Foster an environment of design excellence and innovation throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Leadership & Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Mentor and guide junior and intermediate staff, supporting their professional development.
  • Work with the firm’s established construction administration (CA) protocols and train team members in CA processes.
  • Support teams in achieving development and building permit approvals, liaising with municipal bodies as needed.

Construction Administration:

  • Manage construction documentation, including RFIs, submittals, site instructions, and change orders.
  • Attend site meetings, prepare field review reports, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Provide proactive problem-solving for any construction or contractual issues.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Architect (or eligible for licensure in BC) with 9+ years of experience, including healthcare and mixed-use projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of BC Building Code (BCBC) and Vancouver Building Bylaw (VBBL).
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with other design tools is an asset.
  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to build positive, lasting relationships.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.
