Senior Construction Manager: Portland, OR

Salary: $175k-$225k

They tackle various projects—from Multifamily and Mixed-Use to Healthcare, Education, Senior Living, Commercial spaces, Municipal buildings, Industrial sites, Hospitality, and Entertainment Venues. What You’ll Do:

Project Planning and Management

  • Craft detailed project plans with clear timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Keep an eye on project progress and tweak plans to stay on track.
  • Lead project teams and manage daily tasks to stick to the plan.

Team Leadership and Coordination

  • Supervise construction managers, engineers, and staff.
  • Foster a collaborative team spirit and ensure smooth communication.
  • Mentor and train junior team members.

Stakeholder Communication and Management

  • Be the primary contact for clients, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Hold regular project status meetings and keep everyone in the loop.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts that pop up during the project.

Budget and Cost Management

  • Create and manage project budgets to keep costs in check.
  • Review and approve expenses, invoices, and change orders.
  • Find cost-saving opportunities without skimping on quality.

Quality Control and Assurance

  • Set and enforce quality standards for projects.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure everything meets specs and safety standards.
  • Address any defects or issues promptly.

Safety Management

  • Develop and implement safety plans and protocols.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits and training sessions.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses.
  • Stay updated on changes in building codes and standards.

Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure contingency plans are in place for unexpected events.

What You’ll Need:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related fields. Advanced degrees or certifications (like PMP, CCM) are a plus.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years in construction management, with 5+ years in a senior role.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent travel to project sites around the Greater Portland Area.
