About the Opportunity

A leading provider of roofing and building envelope solutions is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee safety operations at their Laurel, MD office, with regular travel to the Virginia Beach, VA location. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining safety excellence across high-stakes projects in occupied and mission-critical environments, including healthcare, government, and institutional facilities.
This position is ideal for an experienced safety professional who thrives under tight deadlines, adapts to dynamic challenges, and has a proactive approach to managing safety in complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain robust safety programs, including fall protection, hazard communication, and job site safety.

    • Lead group safety training sessions to educate employees and enforce safe work practices.

  • Risk Mitigation:

    • Conduct comprehensive safety inspections to identify risks, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely follow-up.

    • Investigate safety incidents, determine root causes, and oversee corrective measures.

  • Compliance and Standards:

    • Ensure adherence to OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as project-specific safety requirements.

    • Provide guidance during audits and maintain compliance with stringent client safety standards.

  • Collaboration and Oversight:

    • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, Subcontractors, and Suppliers to uphold safety standards.

    • Create and implement Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses for complex project environments.

  • Team Development:

    • Conduct new employee orientations and establish local branch safety committees.

    • Assist in policy development and deliver training to enhance safety awareness across teams.

What You’ll Need
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, or a related field preferred.

  • (5+ years of field experience may substitute for education.)

Experience:

  • Proven success developing and managing safety programs with measurable results.

  • Experience overseeing safety operations across multiple sites simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage safety in occupied mission-critical facilities (e.g., hospitals, government buildings).

Skills:

  • Expertise in fall protection and working at heights.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with Procore (preferred).

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a plus.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour in Construction (required or willingness to obtain).

  • OSHA 500, EM 385, or Fall Protection Trainer certification (preferred).

  • BCSP certification (advantageous).
