Our Client:

Since its inception, our client has built a solid reputation for competence, professionalism, and superior craftsmanship. They are an industry-leading General Contractor that has a 125-year record of completing successful projects in California. Working to acquire Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build contracts, they focus on contracts ranging from $20 Mil. to $200 Mil. The type of projects they work on is in the public works sectors: Education (DSA), Government Facilities, Transportation, and Healthcare (HCAI/OSHPD) projects.



Summary:

They have an immediate opening and are looking to add to their strong preconstruction/ estimating department. They are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join Their team of dedicated professionals. This role will require a motivated individual who works well within an office setting, enjoys teamwork, is organized, and is looking to advance and grow their career.



What You’ll Do:
 
  • Project Planning: Developing a comprehensive project plan, including defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines. This involves coordinating with stakeholders, architects, engineers, and other project team members to establish project requirements.
  • Resource Management: Allocating and managing project resources effectively, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors. This involves coordinating with procurement teams and ensuring resources are available as needed to meet project goals.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Creating and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring that the project remains within the approved budget. This includes reviewing and approving invoices, monitoring costs, and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. This includes conducting risk assessments, implementing safety measures, and ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and managing a multidisciplinary project team, including construction managers, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors. This involves providing direction, guidance, and support to team members, facilitating effective communication, and resolving conflicts.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintaining regular communication with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, regulatory authorities, and senior management. This includes providing project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring that all parties are informed about the project's progress.
  • Quality Control: Monitoring and ensuring that construction activities meet quality standards and adhere to specifications. This involves conducting regular inspections, coordinating with quality control personnel, and addressing any deviations or deficiencies.
  • Schedule Management: Developing and managing project schedules, including defining milestones, sequencing activities, and tracking progress. This includes identifying critical paths, resolving scheduling conflicts, and implementing schedule adjustments as needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, change orders, and progress reports. This involves preparing regular reports for stakeholders, documenting project milestones, and archiving project records.
  • Problem-solving: Identifying and resolving project issues and challenges effectively. This includes analyzing problems, proposing viable solutions, and making informed decisions that keep the project on track.



What You’ll Need:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 8+years of experience as a Project Manager for a commercial general contractor is preferred.
  • Experience in DSA-regulated school construction (K-12 and higher education), public works projects, and/or healthcare/OSHPD-regulated projects is desired.
  • Proficiency in the use of Primavera, Prolog Manager, NoteVault, Procore, Textura, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

  • Familiarity with DSA, Public Works, Or OSHPD contracting codes.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to local projects for site visits. 
  • Sets high standards of performance for self and others.
  • Assumes responsibility/accountability for successfully completing assignments.
  • Ensures a high-quality work product representative of a professional effort.
