SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER

Our client, a well-established food import and distribution company specializing in high-quality pantry staples, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Supply Chain Manager. This role is ideal for someone with strong sourcing, logistics, and supplier management experience who is passionate about ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations in a fast-paced environment
Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Develop a deep understanding of our products and production processes to ensure factories are properly guided to meet product expectations.
- Collaborate with Management to actively identify new suppliers for core commodities, ensuring compliance with regulatory, quality, and delivery standards.
- Monitor global trends in crops and fisheries to anticipate and mitigate potential supply disruptions or leverage favorable purchasing opportunities.
- Ensure all new suppliers meet both PS and CFIA vetting requirements.
- Establish and manage third-party testing protocols for each SKU/factory in line with SFCR standards.
- Manage all supplier communications in coordination with Management.
- Travel to international food shows (e.g., ANUGA) and supplier factories as needed.
Product Management
- Maintain up-to-date SFCR documentation (e.g., specifications and certifications) for all products and suppliers.
- Develop PS-format specification templates and lead the initiative to standardize specifications for all SKUs.
- Design a consistent label framework and lead the rebranding of all house brand labels to enhance brand identity and consumer appeal.
- Ensure all product labels, for both house and customer brands, are accurate and compliant.
Inventory Planning and Import Management
- Develop and lead the S&OP process to ensure consistent product availability and competitive pricing.
- Oversee the design and use of the supply database, working with IT/IS to enhance its functionality, including phased upgrades and eventual supplier self-entry capabilities.
- Perform initial costings and supplier comparisons, incorporating end-user pricing and competitive market analysis as needed.
- Maintain accurate cost history records for all products and suppliers.
- Manage inbound product order planning, shipping, and logistics in close collaboration with suppliers and Management.
- Ensure timely CFIA and Customs clearance through proactive document and supplier coordination.
- Negotiate freight rates and manage ongoing freight arrangements.
- Issue final product costings and Receiving Vouchers.
- Maintain and update the foreign currency purchases tracking file with Finance, and contribute to improved FX forecasting.
- Track payments and handle claims for damaged goods in coordination with Finance.
- Place and manage logistics for orders of domestically sourced products.
- Ensure all import licenses remain valid and up to date.
3PL and Local Freight
- Review and verify local trucking charges.
- Coordinate with the PS India Team to track and report on distribution costs, including warehousing and delivery for both imported and domestic goods.
- Manage and reconcile CHEP/PECO pallet programs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide backup coverage during staff absences or vacations.
- Answer phones and perform general office duties as needed.
Software Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced level), with working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
