Our client is world renowned for its most advanced and proven vision correction technology and world class surgeon partners. The Ottawa clinic is a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of professionals that include RN & RPN’s, Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologists, and MDR Technicians.
Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, you will be perform as a Surgical Clinic Nurse Manager. This position is wide reaching in scope within the company and does require a great deal of flexibility.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Clinical Nurse Manager

• Responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of the Operating Room (OR) including, scheduling Operatory staff: nurses, anesthetist and MDRT, coordinating with the surgeons, overseeing inventory management and proper operation/ QA of all surgical/ medical/ sterilizing equipment
• Implementing an annual review of Policies & Procedures, Medical Directives and Flowsheets.
• Ensure each staff member is up-to date and current in teaching—ACLS/ Licenses/ Post operative Teaching.
• Communicate with pharmacies, family doctor’s offices, patients/ family and staff as needed, pre & post-surgery, to ensure best-care and the best patient experience.
• Administrate and stay current with all regulatory issues related to CPSO inspections and OR licensing.
• Able to rotate for OR nursing roles; scrub, circulating, pre & post, Catalys Laser Technician.
• Assists in other areas of the clinic as needed—entering data, stocking, etc.
• Project a professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and high-end customer service approach with all our patients
• Be a strong member of a team that manages the patient experience along the full continuum of contact
• Participate in on-going training to ensure knowledge about services, products and processes

 
Inventory Control Management

• Ensure accurate inventory of surgical supplies.
• Manage an inventory tracking system to streamline business operations.
• Communicate with the Inventory Manager about current stock and potential issues with orders.
• Conduct daily analyses to forecast potential inventory issues.
• Assess new inventory to ensure it is accurate.
• Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices.
• Monitor the levels of stock and proactively make purchase orders.
• Receive and record new stock
• Strategically manage the inventory to avoid overstocking Keep accurate records including PO and monthly inventory reports for the accounting department/watch prices for any fluctuations and opportunities for bulk or contract pricing.

EXPERIENCE:

• RN:  graduate from an accredited Licensed Nursing Program; current registration with the provincial regulating body with valid CPR certification
• Surgical Nursing: 5 years (preferably in an ASC setting in ophthalmology or cosmetic plastic surgery)
• 5+ years in a Supervisory or Leadership role
• ACLS Certification (required by RN to work PACU)
• Competency in electronic patient management systems such as EMR, Nextech, EyeMD
