About the Goals

The Digital Communications Specialist
is responsible for executing a variety of marketing and resource development activities related to digital campaigns (e.g. social media, e-appeals, landing pages). Reporting to the Director of Public Engagement and Government Relations and working in partnership across teams, they implement elements of the agency’s resource development and communications plans to raise support for and awareness of the companies work in order to help the organization achieve strategic goals and best support young people. They work with a variety of partners and stakeholders and assist with activities related to revenue generation, public engagement and education, brand awareness, storytelling, media relations, and positioning of the company as a worthy and effective charity of choice. Finally, they help monitor and evaluate digital activities to increase their effectiveness and improve policy and practice.

We would like to see candidates with experience in the following 

Digital responsibilities 
 
  • Provide oversight and develop/edit content for company digital communication vehicles including website, social media presence, e-newsletters, etc.
  • Develop and execute on a content calendar that identifies opportunities for engagement and visibility and that supports organizational communications, marketing and fundraising objectives
  • Manage company social media presence and accounts both for corporate initiatives and development/fundraising
  • Provide direction and advice from a digital perspective for communications planning
  • Plan, develop/craft and post social media and website content
  • Ability to create basic graphics for all social media pages using Adobe Creative suite based on brand guidelines
  • Monitor, analyze and compile reports on data analytics across all social media and web platforms
  • Proactively advise on improvements and enhancements
  • Curate, develop and/or manage all published content (images, video, etc.)
  • Make edits and updates to company website ensuring a continuous approach to monitoring
  • Ability to create videos and edit videos using Adobe Premiere and After Effects considered an asset.
Communications Responsibilities
 
  • Manage internal and external communication activities, including development of material
  • Liaise with external vendors as appropriate
  • Assist in the production of annual report and annual general meeting
  • Provide internal clients with communications support as needed
  • Some media and public relations activities including press release writing, story pitching etc.
  • Manage and update communication collateral (e.g. postcards, postcards, letters, etc.) that will be shared externally
  • Edit content as requested
  • Develop communication materials to support company fundraising activities, projects and initiatives
  • Support stakeholder engagement and government relations activities as needed
  • Support key operational projects and priorities
  • Travel between Eva’s sites to engage with staff and where appropriate residents, to identify opportunities to creatively share stories of achievement etc., both internally and externally. Liaise with external vendors as appropriate
Resource Development Responsibilities
 
  • Providing specific digital and communications support including plans, advice and content development for major fundraising initiatives, including special events;
  • Working with the Resource Development team to create and produce integrated communications/marketing activities with fundraising activities;
  • Supporting the development of a wide range of written materials, including key messages, speaking notes, marketing and web copy, letters, Q&As, and editorial;
  • Overseeing digital marketing and communications, including website, social media for the Resource and Development team
  • Overseeing the development of advertising activities that will enhance awareness and positive sentiment of the company.
  • Working with Resource and Development team staff and external service providers to produce print and digital collateral and ensure quality control and brand consistency is maintained;
Other Duties
  • Develop quality, mission-driven, and impact-oriented content for multiple platforms (e.g. landing pages, blog posts, social media, e-appeals), engaging team members, young people, volunteers, and supporters, where necessary
  • Engage volunteers and support involvement of third-party vendors (e.g. web developers, marketing companies) to implement projects
  • Participate in staff training, team meetings, and supervision/evaluation processes

Qualifications

  • Commitment to putting youth at the centre of service delivery and working toward social justice
  • Understanding of anti-oppression and anti-Black racism and ability to apply a solid equity and inclusion principles to marketing and communications and engage in self-reflective practice to support organizational change
  • Understanding of youth engagement and respectful approaches to working with young people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, and/or public education
  • Resident expert in social media tools and community management (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Hootsuite), trends, applications and emerging opportunities
  • Proficient in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Adwords
  • Basic experience in graphic design (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), photo and video production
  • Flexible and able to multi-task with evolving timelines and priorities •
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and planning skills
  • Excellent writing skills for multiple platforms/audiences and ability to use language wisely
  • Excellence in public and media relations
  • Creative and innovative thinker; high ethical standards
  • Strong planning and evaluation skills with an ability to work across teams and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and set team priorities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and a sense of humour
  • Multilingual skills including French and other languages common to the Greater Toronto Area are an asset
