The HR Manager will lead and support all aspects of the Company’s HR operations across multiple departments. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and practices that foster a compliant, productive, and positive work environment. They will collaborate closely with senior leadership and various department heads, to ensure organizational alignment with federal and state employment laws. They will also manage daily HR functions such as talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, and staff development.

Responsibilities
 
  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to Executive Management for improvements to the Company's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures the Company's compliance with applicable Federal and State laws.
  • Communicates changes in Company personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance.
  • Assists Executive Management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the Company’s wage and salary program.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the Managing Director, on personnel matters.
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in fulfilling their personnel-related responsibilities.
  • Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a human resources system that meets Company personnel information needs.
  • Oversee all hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations, with terminations requiring the Managing Director’s approval.
  • Coordinates completion of all unemployment compensation paperwork and attends related hearings with appropriate staff.
  • Supervises department personnel to ensure job responsibilities are met.
  • Supports the hiring process for all departments, including posting job ads, screening applicants, conducting interviews, and providing feedback to managers.
  • Assists in reviewing documentation to ensure accurate and complete personnel files.
  • Administers Company benefits, including COBRA and ACA compliance.
  • Conducts new hire orientation and assists the Safety Manager with safety orientation.
  • Tracks employee PTO and flextime, maintaining accurate logs and records.
  • Ensures I-9 records are compliant, filed electronically via E-Verify, and properly stored.
  • Assists managers with disciplinary actions, including gathering information and completing documentation.
  • Supports safety incident investigations, including Worker’s Compensation, accidents, and incidents.
  • Works with the Safety Manager on L&I, OSHA, and related compliance matters.
  • Reviews employee evaluations prior to administration and ensures evaluations are constructive and informative.
  • Conducts and documents EEO reviews and training as necessary.
  • Ensures job descriptions are accurate and current in collaboration with department managers.
  • Maintains employee census data.
  • Promotes a positive and enthusiastic work environment
  • Leads succession planning initiatives and compiles related documentation.
  • Participates in special projects and prepares various reports.
  • Communicates professionally with co-workers, management, clients, and others.
  • Adheres to all Company regulations, policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Supports HR activities across all U.S. entities as required
  • Compiles documentation and information for HR reporting required by senior and executive leadership.
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or generalist role.
  • Demonstrated experience in HR policy development, compliance, employee relations, and benefits administration.
  • Experience working in multi-site or multi-entity organizations is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Federal and State labor laws, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, EEO, OSHA, and employment best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and ability to manage employee records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Skilled in handling sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR software
  • Ability to conduct training sessions, facilitate meetings, and lead HR initiatives and projects.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Adaptable to change and able to function in a fast-paced environment.
