Maintenance Mechanic:
Salary $23 to $31/hour +Benefits

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for its Markham facility, located 121 McPhereson St and our Airport location, 9050 Airport Rd Brampton. The individual must be flexible to work all shifts.
The successful candidate will:        
 
  • Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines and lines;
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards;
  • Adjust machine components, machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product;
  • Regulate machine flow or speed;
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a Supervisor;
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material;
  • Clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides;
  • Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly;
  • Perform preventative maintenance on packaging lines as the schedule requires;
  • Repair areas in the facility that require attention as per work orders;
  • Train Machine Operators;
  • Assist with production on lines as required;
  • Able to source & order parts through online maintenance program;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Education/Work experience requirements:
  • Entry Level 1-2 year’s experience - Mid to Senior Level 5 to 10 years experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in secondary packaging (i.e. shrink wrapping, overwrapping and cartoning);
  • Engineering/Technical Education background;
  • Forklift or Scissor Lift certification an asset;
  • *IMPORTANT* Licensed Millwright not required
Key technical & behavioural competencies:
 
  • Mechanically inclined;
  • Technical mindset;
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Works effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Microsoft Office Suite of Products
