Project Manager

Our client
A growing builder-developer with projects across the York Region. They are looking for an experience PM to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate coming from a larger builder that wants to implement their experience with a rapidly growing firm.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of project life cycle
  • Manage project budget
  • Review designs for constructability.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed status, activities and issues report on each project to present to Management and major project stakeholders.
  • Lead and facilitate regular meetings with management and interdisciplinary teams
  • Drive day-to-day project activities through the application of sound project management principles and methodologies.
  • Establish key metrics that properly reflect the performance of the team and indicates progress towards objectives.
  • Monitor site progress and provide direction and support to field staff.
  • Develop and monitor job schedules to meet project goals.
  • Effectively manage the pay application process.
  • Properly manage the submittal process to assure that proposed products are consistent with the project requirements.
  • Work with procurement team to create biddable work packages and verify contractor bids against cost/schedule estimates.
  • Quickly respond to queries and resolve any technical barriers to completion.
  • Understand and lead construction and startup systems and sequences.
  • Interface with engineering team, construction team, contracts, and commissioning team.
  • Develop templates and standards for future phases/projects.
  • Enforce and maintain high quality standards for engineering drawings and for field installations by contractors.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Responsible for quality and strict adherence to all quality standards. Conform to company policy.
  • Develop and maintain all job reporting and logs to ensure project compliance.
  • Responsible for the day to day operations by monitoring and managing the project crew and performance to ensure projects get completed on schedule, safely and within budget.
  • Direct multiple crews performing independent operations concurrently, maintain high levels of efficiency without sacrificing safety and quality, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Supervise and direct staff and consultants to ensure that project standards are met and work is completed on time and under budget.
  • Review financial cost projections during the project execution and upon project wrap-up.
  • Works with the project team to conduct post-completion analysis of all projects and document post-completion recommendations, outstanding issues, and incomplete deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Multi-Residential Condominium Construction Project Management experience
  • A minimum of 2 full cycle construction project experience
  • Degree, Certificate, or Diploma in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or relevant field
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Industry knowledge and ability to read blueprints
  • Detail-oriented and strong communication skills
