Mechanical Project Manager

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions has partnered with one of Nanaimo’s most highly reputable Mechanical Contractors, and are in search of their new Project Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who can multitask, communicate, and deliver projects effectively on time and within budget.

The Project Manager is the primary person responsible for proactively planning, executing, and delivering Construction projects on time, within budget, and following specifications. The project manager will define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, and supervise project team members' efforts to achieve these critical goals. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management are essential tasks that must be performed throughout each project's lifecycle.

As a Mechanical Project Manager you:
Establish and achieve project targets and milestones to deliver mechanical construction projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide active promotion and leadership in Health and Safety
  • Monitor and provide status updates of work in progress, forecasts, cost control and project schedule.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential problems and schedule delays.
  • Lead and manage project quality assurance, commissioning, and handover objectives
  • Develop and lead value engineering, and provide alternate cost-effective solutions
  • Monitor and analyze critical path activities and advise the project team accordingly.
  • Review and manage short interval planning.
  • Lead pre-job planning, including estimate turnover, kick-off meetings, subcontractor selection, material handling strategies, risk management opportunities and improved productivity.
  • Follow up with site supervision on labour/workforce progress; identify and reduce roadblocks to success.
  • Manage, Supervise and schedule field assets, including workforce, to deliver a timely, cost-effective project.
  • Manage and ensure document control requirements, change order process, coordination of equipment and material deliveries, site meetings and progress documentation are adhered to.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, GCs and Engineers to positively contribute to the project's success.
The ideal candidate has:
  • Experience in all facets of Commercial, Multi-Storey Residential and Institutional Mechanical projects.
  • A plumbing background would be a strong asset
  • Mechanical Engineering post-secondary education or Trade experience with a minimum of five years of construction experience.
  • Experience working with large-scale Mechanical Commercial, multi-story residential and institutional projects.
