With revenues north of a billion of dollars, our client is a firmly established and well respected wholesaler distributor with operations across North America. Their down to earth,honest and straight forward approach is respected by customers nationwide and this approach is central to the culture of the organisation. 

We are currently seeking an experienced General Manager to take over the responsibility of running the business in California. Currently generating in the region of $100 million -150 million, the opportunity for this business in California should be double this. We are seeking a leader that can see the potential of the current business, provide a vision and strategic plan for the current operations and lead the cultural change required to maximize the potential for the business in the State of California. 

Operations are currently centered around the Sacramento and Fresno regions and we are looking for someone with a sound working knowledge of the Californian market who is based close to one of these centers. Relocation is available for the right candidate. 

The successful candidate will have full operational responsibility for the business including the sales, operations and financials of the organisation. Managing an overall employee population of circa 70 people, this person should be a natural leader, someone who can drive performance and yet nurture lasting relationships with both customers and staff. 

We are looking for someone with proven strategic leadership of a distribution business over $50 million in revenue. Ideally they should have a strong knowledge of building materials.They should be able to demonstrate their positive impact on an organisation's culture and their proven track record in growing a business of this size. Experience of a wholesale distribution business would be highly valued. Most importantly, we are seeking a lateral thinker, someone able to see the big picture and drive growth. They should have the people skills to inspire and lead; the intelligence to quickly grasp  important details; and the decision making skills to make shrewd yet calculated decisions. 

We are looking for a leader with the appetite to lead growth, to challenge the team to be their best and to seek out opportunities to expedite expansion.  We need someone strong enough to drive change where it is required and to take an existing business that is comfortable and stretch the team, challenge them and make them realize their potential. 

A sound commercial background is imperative as this individual will be managing a mulit-million dollar P&L. The business has a culture of autonomy so, whilst their is guidance and advice available, ultimately we need a leader comfortable with carrying the accountability for the Californian business and able to make the decisions necessary to move the business from good to great. 

Whilst we are open to many industry backgrounds, experience in wholesale distribution of building materials is preferred.
