We are looking for the individual who will drive the organisation forward in the Midwest with a specific focus on the Chicagoland area. In return, this role offers generous compensation and a position on the senior leadership team.
The General Manager is responsible for the sales, administration, operations and logistics divisions of this established Chicagoland branch, a 55,000 sq ft facility that serves regional fabricators, contractors, builders, architects, and designers. With a headcount of approximately 12 individuals, this person sets the tone, leads from the front, motivates and sets benchmarks, and pushes employees to maximizing their potential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the salesforce, warehouse, and fleet; ensuring that efficiencies are realized through effective inventory management, careful expense management / control and effective use of the delivery fleet.
Managing the multimillion-dollar P&L will demand effective budgetary control, strong financial management and close attention to detail throughout the operation. The General Manager is responsible for all financial management.
Leadership will be key to this role. Leading from the front in terms of sales and relationship management but also, in terms of culturally within the branch, creating a high performing environment. Challenging the norm and showing employees that they can reach higher performance levels than they may have realized; spotting and nurturing talent within the organization and stretching individuals to realize their potential; and creating a team proud to work for the organization and proud of their results.
The successful candidate will have;
- Proven sales / general management experience
- Ability to created a high performing team
- Solid understanding of financial management
- Understanding of managing operations and logistics functions
- Experience managing senior level customers, growing key accounts and opening up new business opportunities
- A capacity to learn, adapt and continually strive for higher performance
- Experience driving change and improving businesses.
