Project Architect
Vancouver, BC
Design-Led Studio with Cultural & Community-Focused Projects
Salary Range: $85,000 – $110,000

About the Firm
We’re proud to be partnering with a respected, award-winning architecture practice based in Vancouver. With a design philosophy rooted in cultural sensitivity, community connection, and environmental stewardship, this firm is known for delivering meaningful architecture across Western Canada and beyond. Their work spans community and cultural buildings, institutional projects, interpretive centres, and significant Indigenous-led developments, all shaped by deep engagement, collaboration, and a reverence for place.

As a growing studio with a strong portfolio and a deeply mission-driven approach, the firm offers the opportunity to do work that matters, while being surrounded by a passionate and grounded team. Leadership is thoughtful and inclusive, and the firm’s culture is one of mutual respect, design integrity, and shared purpose.

Why Join This Team?
This is an opportunity to take a senior leadership role within a values-driven studio that’s deeply engaged in culturally significant and community-enhancing work. You’ll work on meaningful projects from early design through construction, with the autonomy to lead teams, engage directly with clients, and mentor the next generation of architects. The team values open dialogue, collaborative design, and technical excellence. You’ll join a studio that blends purpose and precision, offering a balance of creative freedom, team mentorship, and strategic input at both the project and practice levels.

About the Role
Our client is seeking a Registered Architect (AIBC) with 8+ years of experience who brings strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a passion for contributing to impactful work. In this role, you’ll lead the design and delivery of projects across all phases, mentor junior and intermediate staff, coordinate consultant teams, and serve as a trusted client liaison.

This is a hands-on role that offers the chance to resolve complex technical challenges, guide design development, and help shape the future of the studio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural projects through all phases from concept to construction completion.

  • Oversee and review architectural and consultant drawings for design quality, constructability, and compliance.

  • Resolve technical and detailing challenges through research, coordination, and code application.

  • Participate in (and lead) design meetings with clients, consultants, and authorities.

  • Present design concepts and project updates to stakeholders as needed.

  • Mentor junior architects and project managers, supporting professional growth across the studio.

  • Collaborate with the principal and project managers on scheduling, deliverables, and team resourcing.

  • Contribute to a positive, culturally sensitive, and high-performing studio environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architecture and registration with the AIBC (required).

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in architecture, with demonstrated project leadership.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Rhino; Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office also used.

  • Strong working knowledge of BC Building Code, bylaws, and wood-frame construction.

  • Experience developing construction documentation and resolving technical/detailing challenges.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience working on community-based or culturally rooted projects is a strong asset.

  • Passion for design excellence and a thoughtful, respectful approach to leadership.

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.

  • The chance to work on culturally and socially significant projects across BC and beyond.

  • Supportive and collaborative work culture with strong leadership and mentorship.

  • Opportunity to contribute to strategic studio development as the practice continues to grow.

  • A balanced, respectful work environment focused on quality over quantity.
