Project Manager - Heavy Civil

Our client is looking for a civil project manager to join their team. The PM is responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects within the civil engineering field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Planning: Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, considering factors such as scope, resources, and deadlines.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a project team, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring everyone understands their roles and responsibilities.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project expenses and resources, ensuring adherence to the budget while seeking cost-effective solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high-quality standards by conducting inspections, quality checks, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the project remains on track.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure project goals are met.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project records, including contracts, permits, and progress reports.
  • Problem Solving: Address unforeseen challenges, conflicts, and issues that may arise during the project, seeking solutions to keep it on course.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Project Closure: Coordinate project completion, including final inspections, client handover, and project documentation.

The civil project manager plays a crucial role in delivering successful civil engineering projects on time, within budget, and with high-quality standards.
 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree, college diploma, or 7-10 years of related experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction, including technology, equipment, methods, negotiations, engineering, cost control, schedules, and safety.
  • Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business documents and technical procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced, customer-focused environments.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera, and AutoCAD.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible problem-solving approach and experience in Heavy Civil Construction, with Sewer and Water, Wastewater Treatment, or pumping station knowledge as a valuable asset.
