Our client, a reputable and stable organisation, is looking for candidates with 8 to 15 years of progressive municipal and or water resource project experience. You will work in this company's Canmore office in beautiful, central Alberta, and work on municipal infrastructure projects including water distribution and collection systems, storm water management solutions, pump stations, lift stations, and water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Design of site grading and servicing (storm, sanitary, water and surface improvements) for single, multifamily and country residential developments; commercial, industrial and institutional projects throughout Southern Alberta
  • Contract development
  • Preparation of tender documents including specification; front-end documents and special provisions
  • Field reviews / construction management
  • Planning and design engineering for subdivision and municipal civil engineering projects in accordance with client and municipal standards
  • Reviewing the work of design staff related to hydraulic network analysis, earthwork calculations and topographic surveys
  • Quality management of deliverables
  • Review the preparation of quantity take-offs
  • Liaison with clients and project management team
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior team members
  • 8-15 years’ experience working on municipal and/or water resources projects
  • Prior experience working for a consulting engineering company in the municipal business sector as well as experience working in medium to large metropolitan areas
  • A thorough knowledge of design and construction procedures related to the provision of municipal infrastructure for residential, commercial and/or industrial land development projects is essential
  • Must possess thorough knowledge and experience in the application of municipal engineering design criteria to the design of road works, stormwater management systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, and water distribution systems
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and other software applications associated with modelling and system analysis associated with this professional sector
  • A strong understanding of the municipal planning requirements associated with various residential and commercial land development initiatives is imperative to the work you will do
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and liaising with architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, street lighting designers, surveyors, and other related professionals normally part of the land development project team
  • A thorough knowledge of the preparation of tender bid documents (using CCDC format), bid estimating, and contract administration (on behalf of the Owner) throughout the duration of the construction period
  • Excellent communication skills are essential
  • Interpersonal skills include the ability to conduct yourself in a professional manner in a business environment, skills in diplomacy, the ability to listen and provide guidance and leadership
  • P.Eng. designation (eligible for registration with APEGA)
