Our client, one of Canada’s largest REITs, with approximately 10 million square feet of retail properties across Canada, is looking to bring on a Property Accountant to join their Medicine Hat team located at one of their retail properties. Our client provides a competitive base salary plus bonus and immediate enrollment in their pension and benefit plans.
The Property Accountant’s primary responsibility is to provide exceptional customer service for all clients (both internal and external) and for the efficient and accurate accounting of the real estate portfolio. You will be responsible for monthly reporting, including month-end closes, actual to budget variance analysis, GST & QST returns and bank reconciliations. In addition, you will prepare quarter-end audit packages and liaise with auditors, draft annual financial statements and cost statements, prepare annual tenant operating cost and realty tax billings. You will also be required to prepare operating and capital budgets, quarterly re-forecasts and to assist with the integration of new property acquisitions.
- Candidates with Full Cycle Accounting outside of the Real Estate industry will be considered.
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Enrolment in a professional accounting designation program preferred.
1-3 years real estate accounting experience.
Retail real estate experience highly preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
ERP system experience an asset (Yardi Preferred).
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
