Global organization with large manufacturing facility in Winnipeg servicing all of their Western Canadian operations, seeks a commercially savvy, LEAN manufacturing orientated plant manager to manage their Winnipeg facility.
Due to retirement, this organization is seeking an experienced plant manager with proven experience running a large, unionized manufacturing facility. The successful individual will be a leader of people and be well versed in leading a continuous improvement culture to drive efficiencies within manufacturing environments. Likely an engineering grad, this person will have been accountable for leading large diverse teams and will be able to demonstrate success in improving efficiencies in a safe and controlled manner.
With full P&L responsibility this role requires a financially competent and fiscally competent leader that is very comfortable managing the full P&L not just costs. Working in partnership with the sales leaders, this person will play a major role in the strategic development of the organizations' footprint in Western Canada. By diversifying the manufacturing capabilities of the facility and working closely with R&D, the plant manager will introduce new manufacturing lines as well as implement new product development.
Technically minded the successful individual will be involved in all aspects of the operations from maintenance to process redesign and purchasing of capital equipment. Understanding the importance of safety and quality, the plant manager should be capable of developing strategy for the continued growth of the Western Canadian business whilst efficiently managing the day to day operations of the plant.
Union relationships have historically been positive and it is important that the individual comes to the role with knowledge of collective agreements, and how to manage in collaboration with union representatives.
We are looking for a strong leader that can demonstrate a balance between strategic vision and tactical implementation. They should have an encouraging and supportive approach and be able to show flexibility in their management style. They will be technically minded and commercially savvy.
