Ottawa clinic is a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of professionals that include RN & RPN’s, Certified
Ophthalmic Medical Technologists, Patient Services Representatives, Refractive Consultants and Ophthalmic Technicians.
The Refractive Consultant is the contact person for the customer through the consultation process, closing, surgery and post-op care. This position is primarily responsible for scheduling procedures, discussion about financial and informed consent, and some ophthalmic diagnostic testing.
- Project a professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and high-end customer service approach with all our patients at all times
- Be a strong member of a team that manages the patient experience along the full continuum of contact
- Education of the patient on their prescribed procedure, answering all their questions about what to expect on the day of surgery and post-op, “do’s and don’ts,” fees and financing options and scheduling of the procedure.
- Receives and secures payment from patients
- Be a direct contact for that patient as they move through the treatment and post-op processes
- Work with the Practice Manager and other team members to ensure each part of the patient experience is demonstrating excellence
- Be proactive in identifying areas for improvement within the patient experience and initiating solutions under the direction of our Refractive Practice Manager
- Be successful in helping the team you are a part of grow conversion rates above our current established average
Technical skills
The ideal candidate will have some experience in an ophthalmology or an optometry office. Able to utilize skills as an ophthalmic technician including but not limited to performing corneal topography, OCT, A-Scan, Visual Fields, patient work-ups, IOP, IOL Master, LenSstar, iDesign, and UBM.
Interpersonal
Customer service driven. Able to manage difficult or emotional situations with patients.
Must maintain confidentiality. Speaks clearly and persuasively.
Able to balance team and individual responsibilities – contributes and welcomes feedback Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Attention to detail is critical.
Bilingual (French / English )is an asset.
