THE ROLE: 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end project management process, ensuring projects are scoped, executed, and initiated on time within budget while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction
  • Oversee project lead and scientific staff resource allocation, and set up Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) for new projects, including approved scopes, work breakdown structures, resource management sheets, SIPOC breakdowns, etc.
  • Create and maintain issues logs and lessons learned logs for projects nearing closure, and train and supervise project leads to operationalize
  • Create and maintain Master Integrated Schedule(s) with new project schedules as new dates arise and train and supervise project leads to operationalize
  • Execute and monitor quality assurance and quality control processes per project, including tracking deliverables against the scope of work and adhering to writing expectations for client-readiness of deliverables
  • Balance resources across a team of 10-15 scientists, analysts, and researchers working on 10-15 projects simultaneously
  • Contract sub-consultants, leverage the Request for Information and Request for Proposals process to obtain vendor inputs, and ensure vendor contracts are scoped, executed and initiated on time to a high level of client satisfaction
  • Meet with potential clients and document client needs, developing an offering that meets and exceeds those needs in a timely manner
  • Propose a scope of work with comprehensive deliverables to transit/fleet clients, generate proposed budgets and cost profiles for project proposals, and craft and finalize scopes of work/proposals for the transit agency and fleet clients that are high-quality and client-ready
  • Conduct resource gap analysis and make recommendations to the Program Manager/Director for resource re-allocations, resource growth, hiring, promotions, or changes to roles and professional development
  • Devise job descriptions for new hires (job postings) and employment agreements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in project management and a proven track record of successful project delivery within budget and on schedule
  • Strong leadership and management skills, ability to manage a team of 10-15 scientists, analysts, and researchers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate complex ideas to different audiences and build relationships with clients, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to identify and track ongoing skills, capabilities, and capacity gaps on the team and make recommendations for resource allocation, growth, or changes
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera, and PMIS
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry, particularly in zero-emissions transit, and understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this field.
