New opportunity - join a well known, innovative and stable construction business in the heart of Toronto.  They are seeking an experienced and accredited Corporate Health & Safety Coordinator for this key position. This role is based in their corporate office but some National travel will be required. 

*** A Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is required to be considered for this position. 


Key Accountabilities:
 
  • Assist the Corporate Health & Safety Manager in retrieving health and safety related data from all Business Units and ensure information is gathered in a timely manner and input in the relevant databases and systems
  • Maintain the tracking mechanisms for safety indicators
  • Assist in the development of documentation required for Global Health and Safety Management System
  • Participate in the delivery of safety communications and programs to support the Management System
  • Maintain tracking for safety related training programs reflective of applicable legislative requirements as well as safety standards, policies, procedures and practices
  • Assist the Corporate Health & Safety Manager in actively communicating and providing guidance to all employees and stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulation and corporate health & safety expectations
  • Assist in following-up on external and internal audit/inspection recommendations (i.e. MOL Inspections, government agencies visits, etc.) to ensure all items have been completed on time and assist with removing any barriers to completion
  • Work with the Corporate Health & Safety Manager to provide training to employees to ensure understanding of compliance expectations
  • Visit project sites to inspect and ensure compliance expectations are being met
  • Review and audit documentation required by sites to ensure documentation meets expectations
  • Participate in accident investigation by assisting the Corporate Health & Safety Manager, Managers, sites and corporate to determine root causes and controls for prevention purposes;
  • Determine health and safety improvement opportunities 
  • Assist in responding to safety related information requests from all Business Units
  • Develop and maintain a positive and proactive relationship with all internal stakeholders as well as all the Joint Health & Safety Committees and Representatives
  • Assist in other OHS activities as assigned
 
Education & Experience:
 
  • Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is required to be considered for this position
  • 3+ years prior safety experience
  • Prior experience working in the Construction industry is preferred
  • Availability to travel across Canada and work scheduled shift hours as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Experience in implementing OSH training programs (preferred)
