SUMMARY
The Branch Manager plans, directs and leads all sales and business operations and is accountable for the profitability of a branch within the distribution division.  This role functions essentially as an entrepreneur in their own market and focuses on leading a team of sales and operations staff to maximize profits (EBITDA) and ROI and grow the business. The client base will be in the building materials and/or construction industries.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee staff to ensure efficient operation of the branch;
  • Act as a sales leader for the branch servicing major accounts and actively pursuing new business;
  • Lead an experienced team comprised of customer service, sales and warehouse employees;
  • Coach and inspire team to strive to achieve excellence in customer service, sales and operations;
  • Execute appropriate strategies and actions to increase sales, improve operating efficiencies, and manage assets to achieve ROI and bonus targets;
  • Hire and develop employees to create a high performance team which is focused on providing exceptional customer service, improving margins, and increasing sales and ROI;
  • Safeguard and maintain all branch assets – building, fleet, equipment, inventory and receivables;
  • Identify new markets, increase market share and margins;
  • Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures;
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment;
  • Provide monthly and ad-hoc reports to head-office;
  • Travel to customer sites and trade shows;
  • Part take in the annual budget setting and ensures adherence and follow-up throughout the year.
 
REQUIREMENTS
  • A college degree in a Business, Marketing or another related field 
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience within sales, sales management or branch management in a business-to-business sales environment focusing on small and medium-sized businesses
  • Strong people management and leadership skills are a must
  • Strong understanding of financial statements
  • Experience in the building industry is a strong asset
  • Experience with Health & Safety policies and procedures also a strong asset
