Location: Toronto-Hybrid
Salary: $140K+

Our client has a solid reputation and is a multi disciplinary, multi location firm now growing the Architectural office.  They are seeking a Senior Architect to join their growing team.

Role Description:
Reporting to the Principal and Managing Director, you will lead a range of exciting projects across the GTA, collaborating remotely with a skilled team and consultants to drive progress at every stage. Your responsibilities will include developing and coordinating design, construction documents, specifications, and construction administration, as well as managing subconsultant coordination. Most importantly, as a Senior Architect, you will work closely with clients to fully understand their needs and expectations, delivering cost-effective designs that preserve the integrity of their vision.
Project Management:
  • Support business development efforts by assisting in the pursuit of new opportunities, including participation in client presentations.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of project phases to ensure successful delivery.
  • Adhere to established project management methodologies, managing scope, budgets, cost controls, schedules, and overall work efforts.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines as needed.
Design:
  • Execute project-specific design and development tasks, including programming, reports, drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Lead and oversee design conception, detailing, and the creation of presentation materials.
  • Manage the development of construction documents and ensure design continuity throughout the construction process.
  • Support fellow architects in maintaining design consistency across projects.
  • Address client inquiries, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications during construction.
Technical:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on project deliverables such as reports and studies.
  • Review and interpret drawings from other disciplines, ensuring seamless coordination across project documents.
  • Assist with site coordination, collaborating with contractors to resolve construction and on-site challenges.
  • Lead and oversee the production of architectural drawings and models.
  • Maintain and manage all architectural design and contract administration documentation.
  • Guide contract administration efforts, working closely with contractors to address construction and site issues effectively.
  • Analyze and apply relevant building codes, by-laws, regulations, and technical reports to ensure compliance.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of architects, intern architects, designers, and Revit/CADD technicians as assigned.
  • Utilize Revit for the production of design and contract documents, ensuring quality assurance and control through redlining and implementation of revisions.
Mentorship responsibilities:
  • Enhance the team’s design skills by sharing expertise in current design techniques, building systems, and industry trends, ensuring their effective implementation in projects.
  • Inspire, motivate, and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance, reviewing team members’ work
  • Assist in determining project staffing needs.
  • Mentor team members by identifying areas for improvement through coaching and guidance.
  • Engage and motivate staff by encouraging creativity and recognizing achievements.
  • Set a high standard for work quality through leadership and example.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and registration as an Architect with the OAA.
  • 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in architecture.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative design concepts that align with functional goals and budget constraints.
  • Experience in business development and proposal preparation is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Revit, CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D visualization tools (e.g., SketchUp), and other graphic software is an asset.
  • Experience in transportation projects is a strong advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing tasks to meet competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising junior staff, ensuring accuracy and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with governmental agencies, building codes, and zoning ordinances.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with coworkers, clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Understanding of professional ethics in architectural practice.
