Job Title: Vice President, Innovation and Development
Location: Greater Toronto Area, ON
Reporting to : CEO
Salary Range: $250K - $280K per annum plus bonus

Headquartered in the GTA, they are dedicated to advancing patient care through groundbreaking technologies and solutions. As they embark on an exciting phase of growth, the company is seeking a distinguished Vice President, Innovation and Development to drive their R&D strategy and elevate their product pipeline. In this executive role, you will oversee the full spectrum of innovation—from concept development to market introduction—ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic vision. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position is instrumental in shaping the company’s trajectory, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of their ambitious product roadmap.

The Opportunity:
This highly influential role will provide visionary leadership to the R&D team and product development strategy. The Vice President, Innovation and Development will oversee the entire innovation lifecycle, ensuring that all initiatives align with the company’s long-term goals and market needs. With a direct reporting line to the CEO, you will serve as a key architect in shaping the company’s future, inspiring a culture of innovation, and ensuring the execution of a forward-thinking product roadmap that positions the company as a market leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s innovation and product development strategy.
  • Oversee design, development, and validation of medical devices, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., Health Canada, FDA, MDR).
  • Build and lead a high-performing R&D team, promoting collaboration and innovation.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory and Quality teams to achieve timely product approvals.
  • Partner with commercial teams to align product concepts with market needs.
  • Cultivate relationships with industry and academic partners to drive innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, biomedical sciences, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • 20+ years in medical device R&D, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
  • Proven track record of bringing medical devices to market.
  • Expertise in regulatory pathways (ISO 13485, FDA, MDR).
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Authority to work in Canada.
