Commercial Windows Drafter (Mid to High Rise Projects)

The client
Our client is a manufacturer of a window wall system designed for high-rise residential developments, based in Mississauga, Ontario. They service clients from all over North America, including major metropolises such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Toronto. This a great role with potential to grow into other roles later. 

The role
The AutoCAD Drafter will report to the Drafting Manager, managing up to 5 projects at a time. You will design cladding solutions for mid to high-rise buildings involving stick and unitized curtain wall assemblies.  

What they require

• Diploma in Architectural Technology or a University Degree in Architecture
• 3+ years in window wall or curtain wall industry: preference for candidate with window wall and Revit experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; create and modify drawings, create complex dynamic blocks and templates; Revit a plus  
• Create clear design concepts; share inputs with team including drafting manager and PM based on inputs from various stakeholders; revise shop and fabrication drawings 
• Solid OBC knowledge (Section 5, Part 5; Section 3.2.3, Section 3.1.5, Section 9.8, Section 3.2.8), building science and construction best practices 
• Excellent communication and coordination skills; monitor due dates and red flag issues; coordinate with production and installation teams; attend conference calls, meetings and occasional site meetings  
• A portfolio of drawings demonstrating technical knowledge of window wall and curtain wall assemblies; plus a list of 15+ mid to high rise projects you have been involved with in the past 5 years
