Our client, an innovative and reputable manufacturer of automated equipment, is seeking a creative and savvy Engineering Manager to help guide the organization with their technical and design expertise. This role manages the engineering department which is responsible for product development, production development, and hands-on field support. This role is responsible for achieving the engineering department’s overarching goals and its short-term tactical objectives. The ideal candidate brings significant project management experience, mechanical/hydraulic/(simple)control design understanding, and the ability to support and train field personnel.

Our client, an innovative and reputable manufacturer of automated equipment, is seeking a creative and savvy Engineering Manager to help guide the organization with their technical and design expertise. This role manages the engineering department which is responsible for product development, production development, and hands-on field support. This role is responsible for achieving the engineering department’s overarching goals and its short-term tactical objectives. The ideal candidate brings significant project management experience, mechanical/hydraulic/(simple)control design understanding, and the ability to support and train field personnel.
The Role:
- Lead, train and manage employees within the engineering department.
- Lead design reviews, provide design oversight, trouble shoot FAT/commissioning issues.
- Responsible for completing the tactical goals and design milestones
- Establish an efficient Solidworks environment.
- Translate concepts or ideas into technical drawings and schematics using SolidWorks and Draftsight.
- Oversee new product development, including creation of specifications and drawings for product including new product launch planning with the team to help ensure smooth product roll outs.
- Create Owner’s Manuals for product, as per engineering and marketing requirements.
- Support, and sometimes lead, the building of prototypes for both production tools and new products.
- Create and lead the team to analyze engineering models, engineering drawings, and calculations with engineer supervision.
- Create and lead the team to analyze basic engineering models and calculations with engineer assistance.
- Provide hand-on support to shop floor, field, and customer personnel:
- Provide remote and field support for the installation of new production equipment.
- P.Eng. certification considered an asset.
- Strong project management experience.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in technical or business-related field is preferred. Non-degreed candidates with proper training and experience may be considered.
- Experience with process equipment is an asset.
- Proficiency with Excel or databases analytics.
- SolidWorks and Draftsight proficiency is a must.
- Minimum of 5-8 years Engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing environment.
