Summary:
The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects from conception to completion. What You’ll Do:
- Project Planning and Management
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion.
- Lead project teams and manage daily operations to ensure adherence to project plans.
- Team Leadership and Coordination
- Supervise construction managers, engineers, and other staff members.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and ensure effective communication among all project stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior team members.
- Stakeholder Communication and Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular project status meetings and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Budget and Cost Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and projects stay within financial constraints.
- Review and approve expenditures, invoices, and change orders.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Quality Control and Assurance
- Establish and enforce quality standards and procedures for construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Address any defects or deficiencies promptly.
- Safety Management
- Develop and implement safety plans and protocols.
- Ensure all project activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety audits and training sessions for staff and subcontractors.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Obtain necessary permits and licenses for construction projects.
- Stay updated on changes in building codes and construction standards.
- Risk Management
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure contingency plans are in place for unforeseen events.
What You'll Need:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require frequent travel to project sites. (Within the Greater Portland Area)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
