Summary of Position:
Our client is looking for a full-time Intermediate Architect with 3-8 years of post graduate experience in local architecture firms. This individual will be well-rounded and be on track for registration with the AIBC. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Development of conceptual design options for discussion by the design team
  • Prepare drawings, models, visuals, graphics, and other documents relating to the project design as supported by the project lead.
  • Assist in programming aspects of the project design as supported by the project lead
  • Coordinate and administer client and / or consultant meetings as supported by the project lead
  • Prepare project presentations including drawings and sketches
  • Prepare and assist as needed in the preparations of illustrations of the scale and character of a project
  • Work on multiple projects in varying phases in a team setting / smaller projects may require to be looked after solely
  • Assist in the development of project work plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Liaise with authorities having jurisdiction as required for approval processes as supported by the project lead
  • Prepare required documentation for clients and / or consultants as required as supported by the project lead
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of information from consultants
  • Assist in the development of construction documentation development with the technical team
  • Participating in business development initiatives such as Request for Proposals, Fee Proposals, etc.
  • Participating in the review of monthly client and consultant invoices
  • Mentor and facilitate development of Junior Design staff / delegate tasks where required
  • May be required to provide support or assist with various tasks at various skills levels as may be required for project and / or firm success


Qualifications: 

  • 3–8 years of relevant post graduate experience in design/architectural/engineering industry
  • Architectural degree from an accredited institution
  • Registered as an Intern or Architect with AIBC, or eligible to be
  • Strong understanding of all phases of the design delivery process and how they are interconnected
  • Good knowledge of all project phases & project management functions
  • Knowledge of BC building, fire, and energy codes, as well as Bylaws and municipal authority processes
  • Understanding of specifications, building materials, installation methods & construction process
  • Strong understanding of architectural document preparation and layouts
  • Good knowledge of building envelope and principals
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam REVU, Adobe Creative Suite & Sketch-Up
  • Excellent communications skills with a strong desire for career growth
