Our client, a fast paced manufacturer of retail goods, is looking to add a Manager of Logistics to oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of inventory management best practices. The ideal candidate loves to improve efficiency, accuracy, and safety while maintaining a high level of collaboration and satisfaction with their team.


The Role:
  • Lead the development and implementation of standardized warehouse policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure consistency and efficiency in operations. Continuously review and update processes to adapt to changing business needs and industry best practices.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to warehouse personnel, including supervisors, team leads, and frontline staff. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for training and development.
  • Develop and execute inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and ensure product availability to meet production schedules and customer demand. Implement inventory control measures, such as cycle counting, and min-max planning, to minimize stockouts, overstock, and obsolescence.
  • Direct the receiving and inspection of incoming materials and products, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards and specifications. Coordinate with suppliers and logistics partners to resolve discrepancies and address issues related to damaged or non-conforming items.
  • Partner with the other site leads to support Joint Health & Safety committee and development of various Health, Safety, & Environment initiatives
  • Establish and enforce robust inventory control procedures to accurately track inventory movements. Utilize warehouse management system tools and technologies to automate processes and improve accuracy.
  • Evaluate warehouse layout, shelving configurations, and storage systems to maximize space utilization, accessibility, and efficiency. Implement layout changes, racking upgrades, and slotting strategies to accommodate growth, seasonal fluctuations, and changes in product mix.
  • Develop and manage the warehouse operating budget, including forecasting expenses, labor costs, equipment maintenance, and capital expenditures. Monitor budget variances, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost control measures to achieve financial targets and optimize resource allocation.
  • Support multiple stakeholders with inventory management and inventory Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Support contract management, dispute investigation & resolution, and support vendor selection and contract negotiations where required
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, order fill rates, on-time delivery, and labor productivity to measure warehouse performance and identify areas for improvement. Analyze data trends, root causes, and performance metrics to develop action plans and drive operational excellence.
  • Ensure site SOPs are updated, accurate, and compliant
  • Provide analysis and reporting for various stakeholders on operational KPIs, projects, budgets, and business cases
  • Partnering with the executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders in the development of strategic plans

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Post Secondary Degree in Business administration, Operations or Supply Chain Management or comparable experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years as a people and department leader, with proven track record of motivating a team
  • Experience operating in ERP, and/or other Inventory Management systems
  • Exceptional written & verbal communication skills with advanced soft skills and attention to detail
  • Strong vendor management, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Proficiency with all MS Office products, with a strong level of experience in Excel
