Maintenance Supervisor
Salary: $85000 per year + Performance Bonus

is a leading one-stop contract packaging company, specializing in precision packing of dry foods, chocolate and confectionary products from multiple facilities totaling more than 500,000 ft2. A 30-year-old and 100% owned Canadian Company, they have grown to be one of the largest co-packers of chocolate, confectionary and snack products in Canada. our client uses its extensive experience in managing both manual processes and automated equipment to handle primary and secondary packaging of products for some of the world’s best known confectionary brands.

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor at the facility in Mississauga, Ontario. This role will report to the VP, Operations and will be responsible for approximately 8+ employees. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong mix of leadership experience in food co-packaging or manufacturing environment, an ability to work with various systems and processes, and a desire to take on new challenges in a fast paced and exciting customer focused environment.

 

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise, coach, motivate and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements;
  • Inspect and oversee facilities to resolve problems;
  • Perform a variety of maintenance activities as needed;
  • Develop and maintain a planning and scheduling routine and preventive maintenance of equipment, prioritizing and estimating work and technical assistance when developing job plans;
  • Hire and oversee outside professionals such as electricians, plumbers etc.;
  • Inspect and ensure maintenance of building systems such as heating, electrical, air conditioning, ventilation etc.;
  • Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained equipment so as to observe the quality of the maintenance performed and the operating condition of the equipment;
  • Maintain budget by tracking maintenance expenditures;
  • Regularly check and inspect the material and tools inventory and place orders when needed;
  • Assist with the implementation of capital projects;
  • Implementing maintenance strategy and ensuring monthly reporting and KPI validation;
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health and safety rules, guidelines and regulations;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Work experience requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Supervisor for (5+) years, in a food facility;
  • Professional Certifications will be considered an advantage;
  • In-depth knowledge of different building systems (heating, electrical, air conditioning, ventilation etc.);
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety standards and regulations;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Key technical & behavioural competencies:

  • Previous experience with SAP or other ERP software systems, including Nulogy, considered an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel;
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking abilities;
  • Customer focused with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Reevaluating existing priorities and readjust priorities based on business demands
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Ability to lead a dynamic team and increase overall performance.
