They provide mechanical engineering design services to a broad range of clients for projects throughout Ontario and the surrounding provinces. They have a portfolio of work includes commercial, industrial, retail, process, and corporate projects. I am currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team!
The Mechanical Engineer will have extensive experience with plumbing and HVAC design for commercial and industrial projects. They will also be responsible for preparing heat loss cooling loads (HAP), developing the mechanical designs, be familiar with hot water/chilled water systems, VAV systems, VVT systems, plumbing design, and specification development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide cost effective and energy efficient design of HVAC, plumbing and drainage and fire protection systems for the industrial, commercial, institutional and residential sectors;
- Liaise with the clients, consultants, contractors and vendors to obtain project information and to discuss specific design related problems;
- Perform HVAC system design entailing heat loss calculations, duct design, and equipment selection accompanied by an accurate adherence to ASHRAE guidelines;
- Boiler, chiller, heat pump and cooling tower design in their entirety;
- Design of Plumbing systems including sizing and routing of domestic water systems, sanitary drainage piping and vent piping and also includes the selection of plumbing fixtures/equipment;
- Design of fire protection systems including sprinkler head placement, sprinkler head relocation (renovation), fire hose cabinet locations, conceptual system design, etc.
- Liaise and attend meetings with relevant parties to a specific project;
- Prepare working mechanical drawings for Review, Permit, Tender and Construction;
- Coordinate with all relevant project stakeholders parties such as client, architect, structural engineer, electrical engineer, site service engineer, general contractor, mechanical trades, etc;
- Prepare engineering reports including analysis of existing system and provide studies and recommendations;
- Execute Construction administration duties including bid document preparation/evaluation; act as consultant between client and contractor(s).
- Conduct site inspections and reports to ensure that construction is in progress or completed as per the design and responsible for solving on‐site issues during the construction phase;
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in designing mechanical systems
- Current P.Eng. license holder
- Strong computer skills, ideally including Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP and MS Office
- LEED Accreditation and PMP certification will be considered an asset
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
